Thanks for all the Help!

11 Aug 2009

Hurricane Hank collected another well earned win on Saturday night at Dublin Motor Speedway. Although the car ran well in the feature, the car had some issues.

The team prepped the car as usual, checking stagger, air pressures, fuel, etc. But every once in a while something unexpected will reach up and bite you. This week we had carb issues. The Hurricane ran a few practice laps and the car was missing badly as if it kept loading up. We adjusted the floats to no avail so the team did the next best thing……find another carb.

Thanks to Corky Williams and the Limited Late Model team 32 for their help in loaning us their spare. The team thrashed to get the carb on and when we did, we realized the return springs we had been using would not work. So one part of the crew worked on buttoning up the carb install the other team members were looking for a way to get the return springs to attach, neither proved to be an easy task. After hooking up the fuel line, we realized the fuel lines were leaking. Another special “Thanks” needs to go to the crews of Hugh Ray and Rocky Gasque for their help. They provided the seals to stop all the fuel leaks and provided the mechanics wire that allowed us to attach the throttle return springs. The team was grateful for all the help that was provided and offered to help us resolve our problems. The sportsmanship was second to none and made us all feel good about the sport we enjoy.

After correcting our carburetor issues the task of qualifying was at hand. Hurricane Hank had confidence in his crew and the repairs that were made and went out and set fast time putting the P&M Performance/Williams Plantworks Open Wheel Modified on the pole!

After double checking all of the connections and ensuring the return springs were working correctly, the team prepped the car for the feature.

Lining up on the pole, Hurricane Hank led 19 cars to the green and led every lap of the shortened, cautioned filled race to the checkers. That was Hurricane Hanks 10th win at Dublin Motor Speedway and the 12 win overall for the year.

Team Hurricane will be trying our luck this weekend at Fayetteville Motor Speedway this weekend. Please come out to the track and enjoy a fun night of racing.
