The team had a much better weekend. No flat trailer tires, no broken tool boxes and no broken radiators. Whew, it’s amazing we made it through the fourth of July.

This weekend we went through our normal routine and checked the tires, changed one, made sure things were tight and waited on practice. The track was in good shape and the car practiced well, so the team decided to leave well enough alone and didn’t make any adjustments to the car.

Hurricane Hank climbed in to the Williams Plantworks Open Wheel and prepared himself for qualifying. He fired up the P&M Performance Racing Engine warming it up for that one lap. Hank entered the chute and waited his turn. Pulling out on the track the car came up to speed quickly and Hank promptly set fast time and captured the pole. After qualifying the team made few minor changes to the car and relaxed until time for the feature. The team was a bit anxious, but we always are before the feature.

Hank calmly climbed into the car and prepared himself for the feature. Tire pressures were checked, everything got a last minute check and Hank headed for the track. As the green flag flew, a couple of cars were able to get out in front of the Hurricane before they got to turn one. The Hurricane, cool under pressure, used the power from the P&M Performance Racing Engine and powered past those cars as he came back by the flag stand to lead the first lap. Hank would keep that lead throughout the race surviving a late race scare from Willie Milliken. On the last lap coming out of turn two, Willie was able to get under Hank and they drag raced to turn three. Somehow, the Hurricane managed to pull off the victory.

This was a special win for the team and Hank got the checkered flag and made a victory lap for the team. This was the team’s tenth win of the season, which is unbelievable for everyone on the team. So far this has been a dream season for us.
