Rough Finish for a Good Start
28 Apr 2009
Hurricane Hank visited the Fayetteville Motor Speedway again this week. The car felt good during practice. The team drew a 6th place starting position for Hank for the second of two heat races. He quickly worked his way through the field finishing 2nd behind Ricky Boahn. A very promising night so far.
Hank started the feature in 4th place, again working his way through the field and was marching to the front. Roughly midway through the race Hank was able to get under and pass Ricky Boahn for second place and started to challenge Andy Floyd for the lead. The Hurricane was able to get past Andy a few times, but each time a caution flew putting the #11 open wheel back into second place. After the green flew, Hank patiently waited and held his spot. With two laps to go, Hank dove to the inside of Andy Floyd in turns 3 and 4. Things were looking good, till the two touched in 4 sending the Hurricane into a spin that caused part of the field to stack up into the car and our night was done. Hank still managed an 8th place finish. Overall the team had an excellent night, but the results didn’t show it. That’s racing!
Congratulations to Andy Floyd for a well earned victory!
