What?!?! No Power Steering!!!!

26 Apr 2010

Again, Team Hurricane worked hard all week to get the Williams Plantworks/P&M Performance #11 Open Wheel ready. The team was hoping to have the bugs worked out from the previous race. Many parts were replaced and adjustments made to the car during the week hoping to have everything worked out.

As Hank pulled out on the track for practice, the team had their fingers crossed. Hank brought the car up to speed and everything seemed to be in place with the exception of a slight push entering the corner. The team was relieved that the car held together and the changes made were positive.

After a few adjustments the car was ready to qualify! Hank brought the car up to speed and the car looked good, but was still pushing up in the corners and settled for a 5th place starting position. So far a solid night.

The team made a few more changes for the feature and as Hurricane Hank was backing the car up out of the pit stall, he lost power steering. Patrick Williams (Team Hurricane’s Crew Chief) jumped into action and dumped more fluid in the car and the steering came back. Unfortunately the fix was short lived and Hank lost power steering during the race causing the car to be very hard to steer. Hank muscled his way up to an exciting third place finish, nearly taking second from Carlos in the late stages of the race. Both Carlos Jaramillo and Andy Floyd, the race winner, ran an excellent race and we were all very happy with the third place finish at Fayetteville.

Next on our schedule is Dublin Motor Speedway scheduled for May 1st! Hope to see everyone at the track!

Special Thanks goes out the Corky Williams and the 32LLM ride for helping us out this weekend. We’d also to Thank P&M Performance Racing Engines, Williams Plantworks and SSR Racing for helping us make this possible.
